Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is banned. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that features many comforts accompanying the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
