Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 table games.
