Cambodia Casinos
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau casino, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that features a number of luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
